by REERA YOO

According to YTN, the popular K-pop girl group Ladies’ Code was involved in a fatal car accident and 22-year-old member Go Eun Bi, or better known by her stage name, EunB, tragically passed away on September 3 at around 1:20 A.M. (KST).

The girl group’s van was heading toward Incheon on the Yeongdong Expressway when it crashed into a protective wall in the vicinity of the Singal Intersection. As a result, the accident claimed the life of EunB. Two Ladies’ Code members, Lee Sojung and Kwon Rise, were left in critical condition and were hospitalized. Other passengers—the band’s manager, stylists, and the remaining two members, Ashley and Zuny—sustained only minor injuries.

The police are speculating that the van slipped due to the heavy rain, though they are currently investigating for more details. Polaris Entertainment, Ladies’ Code’s agency, earlier released an official statement with details of the accident and the conditions of Sojung and Rise:

“This is Polaris Entertainment.

We would like to explain everything regarding Ladies’ Code up until now. They were returning to Seoul after their schedule at Daegu, then around 1:30AM around Suwon, their back tire of the van fell out. This caused the unfortunate death of our member, EunB.

Currently, our other member Sojung and Kwon Rise are receiving treatment. The manager and other members received no major injuries. The members are on standby to move to a hospital in Seoul.

The location for EunB’s funeral has not yet been decided.

With an apologetic feeling towards everyone, including the fans who have received such a great shock [today], we hope that many of you will pray towards the members’ fast recovery. We will report back further details regarding the accident as soon as possible. Thank you.”
