The 12th Annual San Diego Asian Film Festival will be taking place from Oct. 20 to Oct. 28 at the Mission Valley UltraStar Cinemas.
As one of the largest film exhibitions of its kind in North America, more than 160 films will premiere from 21 countries. More than a hundred filmmakers, actors, and industry guests are scheduled to attend including Kelly Hu (THE SCORPION KING, ALMOST PERFECT), Hong Kong Actor/Singer Edison Chen, Sung Kang (FAST FIVE), Harry Shum Jr (GLEE), IAMME Dance Crew (2011 Winners of MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew), CS Lee (DEXTER), and many more.
The opening night film is the romantic comedy “Almost Perfect” starring Kelly Hu, who will attend the screening along with director Bertha Bay-Sa Pan. The closing night film will be the documentary “Jiro Dreams of Sushi,” directed by David Gelb.
“Knots,” a new film by Michael Kang and written by Kimberly-Rose Wolter will be shown on Oct. 21. Read the feature story about the film in the October 2011 issue of KoreAm.
The Gala Awards event is set for Saturday, Oct. 22 and pioneer Asian American actress Nancy Kwan (Flower Drum Song) is set to receive a lifetime achievement award.
