950th time's a charm

Clear the roads! After four years of determination and 950 attempts, 68-year-old Cha Sa-soon of South Korea has finally passed her written exam for a driver’s license. She can now get behind the wheel and practice for her physical driving test. Her goal is to obtain a license so she can travel and sell vegetables and other goods.

OK, I’ll admit it. I am not helping kick the stereotype that Asian women are terrible drivers. It took me four tries to pass my driver’s test back in high school. That seemed like a world’s record. I would not have had the perseverance of Cha Sa-soon. I would have given up and been carless forever, only communicating with the outside world through the internet.

I guess life wouldn’t be that much different.
