Film lovers, this one’s for you. This weekend is the 2010 Los Angeles Film Festival, showcasing the world’s best independent features. Five lucky winners will receive a pair of movie tickets and lounge day passes to the exciting event.
Films range from summer blockbusters to indie documentaries. This year, there are film entries from more than 30 countries, including these fantastic films from South Korea:
• Café Noir: Combining classical European literature with leftist politics and sly homages to the past decade of Korean cinema, this sprawling, playful examination of unrequited love is the directorial debut of film critic turned audacious auteur Jung Sung-il.
• Woman on Fire Looks for Water: With a keen eye for the meditative rhythms of life in a small village, this lyrical film follows a father and son as they each yearn for a love that may never come.
• The Wonder Hospital: A look at the puzzling illusion of beauty through a blend of 3D, CGI, and live-action puppetry.
In addition to the world-class films, the Festival features Ford Amphitheater outdoor screenings, poolside chats with filmmakers, a special section devoted to music videos, parties and more.
