The Third Annual Korean BBQ Cook-Off

Los Angelenos, prepare your taste buds for the Third Annual Korean BBQ Cook-off! The weekend event is being hosted by the Korean American Coalition (KAC) on August 6.

Last year’s event was a smashing success as nearly 8,000 people indulged in dishes prepared by Koreatown’s best grill-masters. This year, a crowd of more than 10,000 is expected to attend. In fact, Hobart Street will be closed down just for the cook-off.

Following the Cook-off Top Grill Master Audition on July 23, four finalists and an alternate have moved onto the final round. Chefs Pat Chung, Chris Oh, Hogan Lee, and Wesley Lieberher will showcase their culinary skills at the Cook-off, preparing dishes for the ravenous horde. Their fate remains uncertain as they must impress the judges: L.A. Weekly food critic Jonathan Gold, actor James Kyson Lee and Simon Majumdar, judge of “Next Iron Chef.”

In addition, rapper Dumbfoundead will be putting on a free show at 3 p.m.!

And don’t miss the very popular Beer Garden sponsored by Koreatown restaurant Beer Belly. Micro and craft brews will be available.

The event is open to the public but be sure to bring cash for all that yummy food!
