Quality of photos really matters.
And post at least three! Nothing blurry, and no “Where’s Waldo?” photos, either. Do post photos with outdoor backgrounds, food or pets—these have proven to be popular.
Men, stop posting selfies.
“I cannot tell you how many guys post their selfies on [their profiles]. It totally does not work on women,” Arum says.
Fill out your profile.
The number one reason users “pass” on a match is looks, Arum says. The second is a sparse profile. So put down enough information to get a person interested in finding out more. Show that you’re putting thought into it.
Be more open.
Women tend to be pickier than men—and probably for good reason, says Dawoon. But the No. 1 piece of advice successful CMB couples give is to be more open—you might be surprised. “Find out who they really are. Until you meet them in person, you just never know,” Dawoon advises.
Be proactive.
Don’t be afraid to be the first to strike up a conversation. “You can’t just sit there and expect things to happen, like in the movies,” Arum says.
