Eleven Arts just released an English-subtitled trailer for the anime movie “A Silent Voice.”
The film is a teen drama based on Yoshitoki Oima’s manga of the same name. It tells the story of Shoya Ishida, a Japanese high school student who learns sign language in an attempt to make reparations to Shoko Nishimiya, a deaf girl that he used to bully as a child. Nishimiya, touched by his efforts, befriends him, and a romance develops between the two.
The film was the 19th highest-grossing film in Japan when it was released last year. Eleven Arts will be bringing “A Silent Voice” to American theaters on Oct. 20.
