After a mystifying musical performance of Asian drummers, the show began with Sue Wong’s signature of royal glamour sashaying down the white runway. The 19th Century era of Transcendentalism, or the union of nature and the universe, was the overarching inspiration to Wong’s majestic and intricately beaded gowns. Luxurious, royal jewelry and beading gave elegance and a rich touch to Sue Wong’s dresses, while light and fragile material of scalloped, fringe, or airy feathers of some sort gave a sufficient body to each of the looks. The bright and bold colors of Spring added even more drama and opulence to the glamorously romantic gowns. Greens, oranges, deep royal purples, and whites, to name a few, each came and went down the runway towards the flashing lights of busy photographers at the end. Seductive chiffon and lacings also adorned the towering models as they walked with their heads held the grand, lofty feathered headpieces.

The combination of the luscious fabric colors and the complexity of the design gave a subtle nod to the foundations of Transcendental literary and philosophical movement. The belief that with the reflection and intuition of nature’s spirit could lead to spiritual and moral truths faintly swathed around the divine collection.
