James Wan joins forces with the minds of Stephen King and Osgood Perkins to produce horror film “The Monkey.”
Based on Stephen King’s 1980s short story of the same name, the movie focuses on a cursed toy monkey that kills people close to its owners, twin brothers Hal and Bill (Theo James). Years after the brothers originally disposed of it, the gruesome deaths mysteriously start again, and they must try to save those around them and get rid of the toy for good.
Although the teaser does not showcase much, the star-studded cast and crew promise an equally gripping movie. James will star alongside Emmy-winner Tatiana Maslany (“Orphan Black”) and Elijah Wood (“The Lord of the Rings”). Wan, creator of “The Conjuring” series, has also produced “M3GAN” and “Annabelle.” This project is director and writer Perkins’ second project with NEON following “Longlegs.”
