To kick off the Year of the Horse, Bottega Veneta released a tender campaign directed by Dorothea Sing Zhang that embraces the nostalgia and tradition of Lunar New Year. The campaign features vignettes of Olympian swimmer Pan Zhanle, chef Qu Yuyu, multi-hyphenate cinema legend Sylvia Chang and actors Zhang Kang Le, and Yo Yang with his wife Melinda Wang. The vignettes are all unified through everyone singing the classic Teresa Teng tune, “Tian Mi Mi.”

Each vignette offers a sweet peek into the stars of the campaign. It starts off with chef Qu Yuyu preparing a meal in a kitchen softly singing the tune and pans to Yo Yang with his wife Melinda Wang singing while biking across a waterfront path. We see Zhang Kang assembling a bouquet of flowers at a flower shop, Pan Zhanle puts on an outfit and Sylvia Chang singing karaoke with her son Oscar Wang and his wife You TianYi.
“Tian Mi Mi” which translates to “Sweet Honey” is a 1979 Mandopop song by beloved Taiwanese singer Teresa Teng. Throughout her career, she recorded over 1,700 songs in different languages and her songs have been covered by hundreds of artists throughout the years. “Tian Mi Mi” is a love song about someone enchanted by another’s sweet smile. It was originally adapted from a 1940s Indonesian folk song “Dayung Sampan.”
Unlike many luxury brands that usually opt for shades bright red for their Lunar New Year campaigns, Bottega Veneta instead went with neutral equine inspired shades and their signature intrecciato woven leather.
