‘Bottoms’ Trailer Provides First Look into Raunchy Female Fight Club

We’re one week into Pride Month, and MGM just gave us the greatest gift of all: the trailer to Emma Seligman’s “Bottoms.”

A raunchy new take on David Fincher’s “Fight Club,” “Bottoms” is a lesbian teen comedy about “empowering women (the hot ones),” according to its poster. Seligman (“Shiva Baby”) co-wrote the film with Rachel Sennott (“The Idol”), who plays awkward teen protagonist PJ. Together, she and her best friend Josie, played by Ayo Edebiri (“The Bear”), accidentally establish their school’s first female fight club. Determined to defend themselves against the villainous football team (and covertly seduce their cheerleader crushes along the way), the girls aren’t afraid to pack a punch to make the most of their senior year.

Havana Rose Liu (“No Exit”), Ruby Cruz (“Willow”), Kaia Gerber (“American Horror Story”), Nicholas Galitzine (“Purple Hearts”) and Miles Fowler (“Women of the Movement”) round out the hormone-crazed high school clique, corralled by teacher Marshawn Lynch. Dagmara Dominczyk (“Succession”) and Punkie Johnson (“Saturday Night Live”) also star.

“Bottoms” premiered at the SXSW Film Festival in March, gaining several critics’ favor. It will hit select theaters across the country on August 25.
