YouTube sensation Clara C has taken on her own interpretation of hip-hop talent Lil Wayne’s “How to Love” in which the young California native once again proves that she’s not a one-dimensional artist by bringing two different worlds of music together.
Instead of strumming on the guitar like she typically would, Clara plays some beautiful notes on the piano. Also adding to the medley is violinist Daniel Chae. Although her cover has a softer edge than the original, its soothing melodies mixed with her cooing voice lighten Friday’s office atmosphere. Mind you, this video shows only a glimpse of what Clara will bring on stage during her Shakin Off Silence 2011 Tour. Yeah, you read it correctly. In light of promoting her debut album The Art In My Heart, she will visit seven cities across the United States and Canada for her tour.
The 23-year-old, whose full name is Clara Chung, began grabbing the public’s attention when she won ISA 2009, Los Angeles’ Kollaboration 10, and KAC Media Night. Having collaborated with rappers Dumbfoundead and Jay Park — former member of K-pop group 2PM — Clara is definitely known among her fellow peers. She finally released her long-awaited album last September, and it could not be any more fantastic than to hear this soulful musician rock her songs in a live performance. Seattle-based rock band New Heights will be the opening act.
A personal favorite of Clara’s pieces is “Fool’s Gold,” so visit her Facebook page and give a listen to her album. Her cover of Lil Wayne’s “How to Love” seems to incite only a greater craving for her music.
