A group of students at Danwon High School recently honored the memory of their lost classmates who were killed in the tragic Sewol ferry sinking through a special homeroom class photo.

In the photo, 17 students dressed in their uniforms pose against a yellow background, holding 13 framed photos of their deceased classmates. The class picture was originally shared on community forums Sirgle and Nate Pann on March 5 with the title, “Danwon and half of the student group’s photo.”

Netizens on the forums quickly revealed that the male student sitting in the bottom right was holding a photo of his deceased girlfriend. According to the comments, the student continues to honor his girlfriend’s memory to this day by using her photo on his Kakao profile. He reportedly even celebrated their 100th day anniversary by himself.
