Jesse Eisenberg, Alexander Skarsgard Sign On To Kim Nguyen Film

Jesse Eisenberg and Alexander Skarsgard have joined “The Hummingbird Project,” the latest by director/writer Kim Nguyen.

The actors will play two cousins — one the brains, one the hustler — who seek to make millions by building a Kansas-New Jersey fiber-optic cable.

“Hummingbird” will be executive produced by Fred Berger, who worked on “La La Land,” and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, of “Loving.”

In 2012, “War Witch” propelled Nguyen to an Oscar nomination, and picked up a Canadian Screen Award for the Canada-born director. His most recent projects include “Two Lovers and a Bear,” as well as episodes of the Canadian TV crime drama “Bellevue.”

Nguyen told Deadline that he is “thrilled” to have Eisenberg and Skarsgard onboard, calling them an “ideal duo.” “Hummingbird” is “an adventure with heart and soul,” he said. “When I started writing the story I immediately thought it had a really, really cool plot, and that there was a genuine purpose for bringing it to the screen.”
