‘Do What I Want’ Spin-Off Documentary Set To Feature Rising Asian American DJs

Director and full-time college student JFERRER had a vision: to empower Asians and Asian Americans to pursue their dreams, even in the face of skepticism and naysayers. With this  in mind, he directed the documentary film, “DO WHAT I WANT,” which features 11 Asian creatives who face the challenge of juggling creative aspirations with a nine-to-five. Now, the sequel, “DO WHAT I WANT: SPIN OFF EDITION,” will be released in the spring 2024.

The spin-off is set to feature up-and-coming Asian American DJs in Southern California, namely: SEDUZA, MAZD, ATHENA, JAKOB MESINA, BRKN, WAY2PAC, and JEY. The doc will follow these DJs as they go on tour across select clubs in SoCal. The film not only gives a platform for these DJs to showcase their talents but also, discusses greater themes such as the realities of pursuing a creative career as an Asian American.

The exact date is to be determined, but keep an eye out for the documentary, which will be released for streaming on the “DO WHAT I WANT” documentary’s YouTube channel in mid-April. An in-person premiere will take place then as well, at The Frida Cinema in Santa Ana, CA.
