NBC is bringing back the cult comedy film “What About Bob?” as a single-camera pilot, and it’s cast Eddie Shin as a series regular.
“What About Bob?” starred Bill Murray as a psychiatric patient; “Barb” will feature Jessica Gunning in the corresponding role as she forms a relationship with her psychiatrist, Dr. Suzanne Marvin (played by Leah Remini).
Shin will play Suzanne’s half-brother who is “charming with an unwarranted sense of confidence that’s not backed up by much achievement.” He is “educated but lacks follow-through and motivation,” according to the show’s description.
Shin, who’s recently been recurring on “The Man in the High Castle” and “Westworld,” has acted in a number of projects, including “Manhattan,” “NCIS: Los Angeles,” “Men of a Certain Age” and “Misconceptions.”
“Barb” will be written and executive produced by Joe Port and Joe Wiseman, the writing duo who have worked on comedies like “The Crazy Ones,” “New Girl” and “1600 Penn.”
