Florida Man Murders Elderly Korean Roommate: Police

A Florida man was arrested on Tuesday and charged with fatally stabbing his elderly roommate on Monday night following a drug and alcohol-fueled binge, according to police reports.

Authorities released details regarding the violent murder of Chung Sil Kim,77, of Vero Beach, Fla., whose body was found with a large knife “protruding out of his head.”

Vero Beach police said Kyle Matthew Fredrickson, 30, called 911 from a rest stop two hours after waking up to find his roommate dead. He told police he blacked out after a night of drinking and taking more than 6 pills of Oxycontin.

Fredrickson (pictured right) said he didn’t remember what happened “but I know I woke up next to a dead body of my roommate this morning and I called it in. He had a knife sticking out of his head. That’s how I knew he was dead and I left.”

Police said details of the crime scene reveal that Fredrickson, who admitted to taking a shower prior to leaving, attempted to alter the crime scene and disposed of bloodied clothes as well as the handle broken off from the knife found embedded in Kim’s skull.

Fredrickson told police he often used Kim’s car to run errands for him and was authorized to use his ATM card. Neighbors told police, however, that they overheard Kim tell Fredrickson his bank account balance seemed to be “off.”

Police charged Fredrickson with first degree murder and he is being held without bail.
