After a live debut at a Los Angeles festival and a Kylie Cantrall team-up, the four-member group sets a midnight release for its next digital single.
Fans heard GIRLSET young & dumb before most of them knew what it was called. The group played it live and unreleased in October. Now it has a title, a teaser and a date: November 13.
The announcement went out on November 2 across the group’s official social accounts, with a caption that doubles as an instruction: “ready to sing along? “young & dumb” out november 13th.” A short teaser video came with it, a snippet of the song playing underneath. The single arrives at midnight KST, and more teasers are on the way before then.

A song with a paper trail
The fun of this rollout is how much of it happened in public first. GIRLSET performed the song on October 17 at the 82WORLD: LA festival at Los Angeles State Historic Park. Republic Records then confirmed the title in a press release for another project, and said the group’s debut album is “coming soon”. It’s unusual for a pop song to have a live history before it has a release date, and this one does.
The group has also shared a short behind-the-scenes clip on how they wrote “young & dumb,” posted on November 4. A look at the writing process, and not only the choreography and styling, is a good way to start a countdown. Listings for the release show the song is in English.
Where the group stands now
GIRLSET is a four-member group under JYP Entertainment and Republic Records. The name is new, but the story isn’t. The members came out of the reality survival show A2K and first debuted as VCHA in January 2024 with “Girls of the Year.” They re-debuted as GIRLSET on August 28, 2025 with the digital single “Commas.” At Character we like groups that grew out of the Asian-American pop pipeline and kept building, and this is one of the more visible examples.
The singles have kept coming since “Commas”: “Little Miss,” “Tweak,” “CHAT,” and most recently “Glown Up,” a collaboration with American singer Kylie Cantrall. That one landed just ahead of this announcement. It followed GIRLSET’s opening slots on select dates of Cantrall’s “The Valley Girl Problem Tour,” where the group debuted “young & dumb” for audiences. The order of events is tidy: tour dates, a festival stage, a collaboration, then the song itself.
It has been nearly six months since GIRLSET’s last comeback, which makes the November date feel like a proper return. A debut album is, per Republic, on the way. A single whose promo line is an invitation to sing along looks like a smart way to build toward it.
What to watch for
The teaser shows the concept of the comeback, and fans are eager to see what the group does with it. With the songwriting clip already out, the next teasers could go anywhere, from visuals to more studio footage. The group hasn’t said which.
The practical part is easy. Pre-save links are live, and the song arrives at 12AM on November 13. If you caught it at 82WORLD or on a tour date, you’ll finally hear the finished version. Everyone else has a few days to learn the chorus and sing along, as the group asked.
