Sony’s New “Karate Kid” is Ben Wang
Sony Pictures, alongside stars Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio, announced its search for a new “Karate Kid” in November. The worldwide hunt has since concluded, with Ben Wang snagging the titular role as the franchise’s next Karate Kid.
Wang, though somewhat of a newcomer on the scene, has ample experience in television, seen last headlining the Disney+ series “American Born Chinese.” He is also trained in martial arts, with experience in Karate, Wing Chun/Kung Fu, Kempo, Taekwondo, and Gumdo.
The film is directed by Jonathan Entwistle and is set for a release on Dec. 13, 2024. It will see reprised roles with Macchio as Daniel LaRusso and Chan as Mr. Han.
“The White Lotus” Season 3 Casts BLACKPINK’s Lisa
Monday evening, it was announced that BLACKPINK singer Lisa, whose full name is Lalisa Manobal, has been cast in the third season of the television series “The White Lotus.” This will mark her acting debut, and have her follow in the footsteps of fellow BLACKPINK bandmate Jennie, who appeared on HBO in the 2023 show “The Idol.”
“The White Lotus” Season 3 will be filmed in Thailand this February, with creator Mike White hinting at plotlines concerning death, Eastern religion, and spirituality.
Charles Melton Leads New Film “Love Child” Alongside Elizabeth Olsen
Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 13, it was announced that Charles Melton has landed a lead role alongside Elizabeth Olsen for Todd Solondz’s new dark comedy film, “Love Child.”
The film will follow Misty (Olsen) and her 11-year-old son, who are stuck in a loveless relationship with their unbecoming husband/father. When Easy (Melton), a handsome stranger, comes along, Misty’s son devises a plan to replace his father with Easy.
The project will be introduced at the European Film Market in Berlin.
