A web sci-fi series that describes itself as The Office meets Firefly, with the craziness of Doctor Who. Is this too good to be true, or is this the beginning of something amazing?
South Korean-born American actor James Kyson will star in the upcoming series Nobility as a closeted space navigator who fancies himself a cowboy. He’s one of the crew members aboard the C.A.S. Nobility, the most powerful ship in existence–well, that is, hundreds of years in the future.
Come aboard the C.A.S. Nobility, the most powerful ship in existence. Set hundreds of years in the future, Earth’s central government, the Confederate Alliance, sends a representative, Sirius Halud, to be the subject of a documentary and to join the crew aboard the ship. However, when Sirius goes on board to work with a crew supposedly called “the best humanity has to offer,” he instead finds a crew that’s considerably less than noble.
In a team composed of the likes of a dishonorable captain, a lazy alcoholic engineer, and a condescending hard-ass, James Kyson plays navigator Bob Takashima, a quirky, effeminate “space cowboy” who adds a spark of spunk in the motley crew’s dynamic. This role takes quite a turn from Kyson’s previous role as the determined Ando in Heroes, and since then, he’s starred in CBS’ Hawaii Five-O, and currently has recurring roles in Break.com’s action series Armed Response, FOX’s new digital series, Daybreak, and Justified on FX. Get a taste of his newest role as Taka in the clip below.
Kyson is joined by a cast that will have sci-fi fans drooling with excitement. Just to name a few, the troupe will include Walter Koenig from Star Trek: TOS and Babylon 5, Claudia Christian (also Babylon 5), Cas Anvar from Assassin’s Creed and Castle, and Michael Reaves, from Star Trek, Star Wars and Batman.
Nobility is sci-fi by fans, for fans, says E. J. De la Peña, the president and founder of production company Cowboy Errant. A longtime lover of all things sci-fi, De La Peña is working with director Neil Johnson, a prominent sci-fi film maker, and is committed to bringing fans a “true sci-fi experience.”
The series will initially be available through online sources, such as YouTube or Vimeo. After the first two seasons are complete, the team will then approach on-demand streaming sites (Netflix, Hulu and Amazon) for large-scale distribution.
