There’s a new smartphone device from Japan with quite the unexpected ability. A Japanese tech brand named Scentee has released a plug-in accessory which attaches directly to your phone. The device then sprays the fragrance of your choice whenever you receive a message.
Los Angeles Times reports the available scents include “rose, mint, curry, jasmine, cinnamon roll, lavender, apple, strawberry, ylang-ylang (a fragrant flower), coconut, and if you remember the fried corn soup fritters at KFC Japan from earlier this year, the corn soup scent should come as no surprise. There’s also a limited-edition Korean BBQ collection with two meat scents and baked potato. A bacon scent is in the works.”
The device carries 100 sprays per capsule and can be refilled for $5. Still not convinced? Check out this (slightly strange) commercial that Scentee has released for this product.

Even if this product isn’t on your wishlist, it certainly caught the attention of Jimmy Kimmel. After learning about this device, Jimmy Kimmel got a new idea for his “Lie Witness News” Prank series.
Kimmel got a crew to go out with a fake Scentee product and interviewed unsuspecting pedestrians. The crew told them that the phone device was capable of smelling like anything they wanted. Of course, the fake device wasn’t actually working, but that didn’t stop the pedestrians from showing their amazement. Watch the hilarious reactions below.
