It starts as a normal concert: a dazzling popstar, thousands of adoring fans and, oh — a serial killer desperate to escape the police. What could go wrong? This is the exact scenario seemingly good-natured Cooper (Josh Hartnett) and his teenage daughter, Riley (Ariel Donoghue), are faced with in M.Night Shyamalan’s latest thriller, “Trap.” When the father-daughter duo attends Lady Raven’s (Saleka Shyamalan) concert, the audience learns through the twisty nature of Shaymalan’s filmmaking that Cooper is, in fact, the notorious serial killer “The Butcher” that the police are searching for in the stadium.

The trailer, released today, July 1, gives an inside look at the extent to which Cooper is willing to stay hidden and chase chaos at the concert while avoiding arrest. From pushing concert-goers down the stairs to even creating explosives in oil fryers to create mass hysteria, the man can’t help but wreak havoc. In an interview with Empire, Shyamalan explains the film in simple terms: “What if ‘The Silence Of The Lambs’ happened at a Taylor Swift concert?”

Luckily, viewers won’t have to wait for long to find out, as “Trap” is set to hit the big screen nationwide on August 2, 2024. But for now, check out the thrilling trailer below, and get ready to be on the edge of your seat!
