Ten traditional Korean dishes will be available for future missions to Mars, said the Korea Food Research Institute last week. The available food choices include: stir-fried kimchi, bulgogi (marinated barbecued beef), bibimbap (steamed rice topped with seasoned vegetables, fried egg, meat and chili pepper sauce), japchae (noodles stir-fried with sesame oil, meats and vegetables), powdered pepper paste, pumpkin soup, and others.
The space meals will first be provided to six astronauts, who are taking part in the Mars-500 project, a training exercise, that will simulate a mission to Mars.
The meals are expected to visit the red planet in 2030.
