Travel Channel has announced that 36 Hours, a new series inspired by the popular New York Times column of the same name, will air on Monday, Aug. 17 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, according to a press release.
Produced by Bungalow Media + Entertainment, 36 Hours follows co-hosts Top Chef alum Kristen Kish and former U.S. professional soccer player Kyle Martino as they venture to new cities around the world, exploring popular sites and tasting local cuisine.
The pilot episode is set in Berlin, Germany, where the hosts will meet artists who are part of the city’s graffiti art movement. During their three-day stay, Kish and Martino will also attend a wild stage performance and participate in the Berlin’s “innovative dining experiences,” according to the press release. After Berlin, the hosts will be heading off to Nashville, Tenn.; Istanbul, Turkey; Barcelona, Spain and Portland, Ore.
With each new episode, Travel Channel will post exclusive on-site photos, behind-the-scenes blogs, travel guides and bonus footage on its official website. Currently, the channel has ordered six one-hour episodes.
KoreAm interviewed Chef Kish for our June/July 2015 cover story during the early stages of the travelogue show’s production. Kish described her co-hosting gig as an “amazing dream job,” adding that traveling around the world will only enhance her culinary knowledge.
“Chefs and cooks—we all read these books about chefs around the world and look at their food and taste it through the pages,” she explains. “I just get to do that firsthand.”
