LG’s Billboard Sets Guinness Record

Apple and Samsung better watch out because LG has taken its marketing game to a whole new level.

LG Electronics announced on Friday that it has set a new Guinness World Record for its new billboard installed in Saudi Arabia, winning the title of the world’s “largest outdoor advertising structure.”

According to Yonhap, the billboard is 250 meters wide, 12 meter high and takes up more than 3,000 square meters. LG added that 1,800 tons of steel was used to build the enormous billboard, which is apparently strong enough to withstand the harsh Middle Eastern climate.

The billboard currently advertises the LG G3 smartphone and stands near the King Khaled International Airport next to Riyadh, where about 20 million travelers are expected to see the massive ad and generate approximately $25 million in annual revenue, according to LG’s estimates.

In a statement, LG said it plans to advertise other company products such as home appliances and air conditioners on the billboard.
