The Los Angeles Times published an amazing story of reunification recently: Steve Inman, a Korean American, found his sister, presumed lost for 37 years, through Facebook.
According to the L.A. Times, Inman’s mother, Chum Ku Yi, and father, Steve Sr., lost their daughter Sally when they were forced to leave her behind in Korea. The couple, who had immigrated to America, could not afford to go back to Korea to look for their daughter at the time, who was thought to have been kidnapped by an old nanny.
When Inman was 33, he created a Facebook profile for “Sally Inman (missing child),” including 12 photos of her as a baby. Eventually, Sally’s daughter saw the profile and contacted him; Inman and his sister Connie helped pay to fly Sally and three of her children to Inman’s home in Southern California and the families were finally reunited.
