We’re so excited about this week’s giveaway! We’ve always been a huge supporter of Kollaboration and we’re so proud of how much they’ve grown and expanded – they’re now in 12 cities, including Los Angeles, Chicago, Seattle, New York City, Tulsa, San Francisco, and now, for the first time ever, Boston!
Boston is a truly unique city, in that it’s filled with talented young students and professionals from all around the world, so we’re not surprised that Kollaboration has finally settled in Boston. The event will be the first city-wide Asian American talent show competition featuring all kinds of performing artists, including vocalists, musicians, dancers and instrumentalists.
More impressive is the fact that the show was produced entirely by students and young professionals – there are a total of 34 team members representing 14 different schools in this one event.
“Kollaboration has a unique mission of Empowerment through Entertainment. It’s guaranteed to be a breakthrough in every sense, showcasing Asian American talent while unifying the community like no other show in Boston has done before,” said Eric Nam, executive director of Kollaboration Boston.
The nine finalists are: Synergy (hip-hop dance company), Black Out (Tufts University step team), Gen, Neil and Isaac (Berklee musical trio), A Portrait from Space (Boston University pop-and-lock dance crew, Kris Sun Liu (beat-boxer and Harvard student), Diverse Duo (lyricist duo), Liz Peter (Boston College vocalist), Unofficial Project (Boston University hip-hop dance team), Miggy Milla (live band).
“Our performer lineup represents the immense talent that Boston’s Asian American community has to offer. We’re truly proud to say that Kollaboration Boston 1 is going to be an action-packed show,” said Nam.
Guest judges Vudoo Soul, Jane Lui, and Sarah Elentukh of Static Noyze Dance Company will evaluate the competitors. Special performances by AHMIR, D-Pryde, Erika David, Jane Lui and Sam Kang will conclude the talent show.
The Kollaboration Boston talent show will be held April 16, 2011 at John Hancock Hall, located at 180 Berkeley Street Boston, MA 02116.
