Well, it looks like a makeup trend from Asia could mean the end of our winged eyeliner struggles. Move over cat eyes, Asia has fallen in love with puppy eyes.

Instead of winging eyeliner upwards, like you would for cat eyes, puppy eyes are created by extending the eyeliner downward. The goal of this is to have rounder, sweeter and cuter eyes. As you may already know, this innocent look is in high demand in Asia.

Charlotte Cho, cofounder and CEO of online Korean beauty retailer Soko Glam says, “Korean-style makeup always has to do with looking youthful and fresh, hence puppy eyes.”

So how exactly does one achieve the adorable puppy eye look? Check out the following video where beauty blogger bubzbeauty gives a step by step tutorial.

Still not sure if this look will work for you? Well it turns out that the choice between cat eyes and puppy eyes actually has a lot to do with your natural eye shape. People with sharp eyes may have a bit of trouble with the puppy look, but those with round eyes will discover that this method is actually much easier to achieve than cat eyes. Many round-eyed Asians have chosen to go for the puppy eye look which compliments their face better and emphasizes their natural eye shape.
