NEON’s Latest Nightmare ‘It Lives Inside’ Takes Inspiration from Indian Demonic Folklore

When it’s ready…it eats your soul. From director Bishal Dutta and the producers of “Get Out,” “It Lives Inside” offers a fresh take on the demonic horror genre.

“It Lives Inside” follows Sam, a high school student who rejects her Indian culture and family to fit in with her American classmates.   When a demonic mythological spirit latches itself onto her former best friend, Tamira, Sam must now come to terms with her traditions to defeat it.

Megan Suri, best known for her role in “Never Have I Ever,” plays Sam, and Mohana Krishnan will star opposite her as her best friend Tamira. The cast also features Betty Gabriel, Neeru Bajwa, and Vik Sahay.

Inspiration for the film drew from director Bishal Dutta’s own childhood experience as an Indian immigrant who grew up in America. The screenplay will be based on a story written by Dutta and Ashish Mehta that draws from Indian demonic lore and a personal family story in Dutta’s life.

The NEON produced demonic nightmare is expected to release later this fall and a new trailer gives us a first look into the panic-induced paranoia of what lives inside. Watch the trailer below!
