The much anticipated season 2 of Netflix’s “Squid Game” is set for a global premiere in 2024. In newly released First Look images, fans can get a taste of what’s next, including returns by Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), Recruiter (Gong Yoo) and, of course, Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae). This morning’s “Next on Netflix” trailer also showcased a glimpse of what to expect, with a clip of Gi-hun taking on a mission after receiving an ominous phone call.
Written and directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk, the show will likely continue following Gi-hun, with talk also of more deadly games and new contestants. Overall, Season 2 will no doubt return us to the heart-pounding suspense we saw in Season 1. Additions to the cast include Park Gyu-Young, Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, and Park Sung-hoon.
After its 2021 premiere, “Squid Game” became a global phenomenon and scored nominations and wins from that year’s Golden Globe Awards, Emmy Awards, Critics’ Choice Awards, and more. Netflix also credits the show as being one of its most-watched series, taking the number one spot in 94 countries around the world.
Hopefully we won’t have to wait in suspense for much longer. Keep an eye out for this year’s “Squid Game” return.
