Who knew that North Korea’s citizens were allowed to play and have fun? And not just playing jacks and kickball – North Korea’s capital apparently has actual fun fairs!

CNNGo recently posted about Stefan Zwanzger, aka The Theme Park Guy, and his trip to Pyongyang’s three amusement parks, Mangyongdae, Taesongsan and Kaeson.

While Mangyongdae and Taesongsan were in an expected state of disrepair, Kaeson was surprisingly modern. According to Zwanzger, it’s also one of the few places that remains lit up at night; after sunset, the city reserves its electricity for monuments, stadiums, statues of the Dear Leader and Kaeson. It is also one of the few places where you can actually interact with locals.

“When you watch the locals on the rides, it seems like the happiest place in North Korea,” Zwanzger told CNNGo.
