More exciting news from pre-pilot season: “Unit Zero,” an ABC dramedy from two “Black-ish” showrunners, has cast Parvesh Cheena and Ayden Mayeri in series-regular roles opposite Toni Collette, according to Deadline.
The series follows Collette, who plays “a brilliant but unassuming CIA engineer and single mom as she leads a team of desk jockeys into the field as secret agents.”
Cheena, an Indian American actor best known for his work on “Outsourced,” and who’s been seen on everything from “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” to “A to Z” since, will play Raj, a “competitive and obnoxious co-worker” who wants Collette’s job.
Mayeri will play Azeema, a smart intern and skilled fighter who’s “always one step ahead of everyone else.” Mayeri, who is of Iranian descent, has been on “Relevant,” “Workaholics” and “New Girl.”
The “Unit Zero” pilot is written by Lindsey Shockley, who is also executive producing alongside Kenya Barris, and directed by David Gordon Green.
