In 2005, Olivia Newton-John’s former boyfriend Patrick McDermott disappeared from a fishing trip off the coast of California, and was presumed dead. But many believed the tragic tale didn’t add up, and that he staged his death in order to cash in on a $100,000 life insurance policy for his son.
A group of private eyes tracked down the lighting technician after noticing a cluster of IP addresses from the Mexican-Pacific coast near Puerta Vallarta logging onto the website that gave updates on McDermott’s presumed whereabouts.
I guess we all love to Google ourselves, huh?
McDermott will have to face police.
