Power Saves, Corrupts and Liberates in Prime Video’s Brand New Series ‘The Power’

Electricity is in the air in Prime Video’s newest series “The Power.” Based on the novel by Naomi Alderman, “The Power” introduces a world where young girls suddenly acquire the ability to conduct electricity at the touch of a fingertip.

Released in 2017, Alderman’s novel explores power and gender. The book follows several characters and their intertwining stories. As women learn to use their newfound ability, they begin to overthrow, and, later on, oppress the men who preside over them. The book’s publication came at a time where the #MeToo movement made waves across the world, and many readers found catharsis in “The Power’s” creative vision — a society where women live without fear and belittlement.

Toni Collette and Auli’i Cravalho will play key figures in “The Power,” with John Leguizamo, Halle Bush, Nico Hiraga, and Toheeb Jimoh rounding out the cast.

After four years since the announcement of an adaption was to be made of the novel, sparks will fly when “The Power” premieres on Mar. 31, exclusively on Prime Video. Check out the trailer below!
