Get cozy for a snowy retreat in Netflix’s Season 2 premiere of The Boyfriend. The sunny seaside setting of Season 1 made history as Japan’s first reality television show that explored same-sex romance and we return with Season 2 in the winter wonderland of Hokkaido.
Season 2’s cast of men range in the ages of 20-40 all hailing from different locations and working different professions. Some have had their hearts broken in the past and will have us questioning if they can open their hearts again to find love in their cozy lodge called The Green Room.
Similar to the plot of Season 1, Season 2 will have the men working a coffee truck, taking turns in shifts of two. With the intimate setting of running a snug coffee truck, we’re guaranteed to see bonds forming quickly. Unlike the 10 episodes of Season 1, Season 2 has 15 episodes which gives us deeper dive into potential connections and breakups happening. It won’t be all work without play because the snowy setting of Hokkaido is a popular winter travel destination for skiers and snowboarders.
Season 1 saw one successful relationship continuing strong with Dai Nakai and Shun Nakanishi, who just recently celebrated their two year anniversary over the holidays. We are all excited to see what’s in store for Season 2 and watch the connections unfold.
