Seeking Asian Parents

I guess the Brits are in need of some good ol’ Asian loving parenting beatings.

According to the Oregonian, the British production company, Twenty Twenty, is looking for an Asian American family who is willing to take in two “difficult” young British teenagers for a week, for the BBC series, “The World’s Strictest Parents.”

Twenty Twenty wrote in an email:

In the previous three hugely successful series we have taken mismanaged teens across the world, from Jamaica to Lebanon, India to Barbados. However despite having visited the U.S. three times previously we are yet to represent an inspirational Asian American family and hope that by doing so we will create a program that is not only entertaining but also illuminating.

For this reason we are searching for rolemodel conservative, educated, disciplined and (most importantly) loving Asian American parents to mentor our British teens. Our ideal family would have at least one child aged 14-19, be proud of their strong parenting and family values and would be willing to accommodate two British teenagers for one week in May or June, instilling in them the values and morality they demand of their own children.

Huh. I’m not so sure how well this will pan out.

From my experiences, Asian American parents tend not to care about other people’s children, unless they’re getting more As or winning more piano competitions than their own kids. And if they’re bad kids, then forget about it – they may as well not exist.
