Seoul Sausage reps LA in food truck breakfast battle

Seoul Sausage, the popular Los Angeles food truck, is participating in the food truck edition of the Thomas Breakfast Battle against 50 nationwide participants.

The truck, currently ranked No. 8, is currently fighting for a spot in round three, which will leave only 10 trucks in the competition.

Created by brothers Ted and Yong Kim alongside chef Chris Oh, the truck began as a tiny catering company run from an apartment kitchen. It is now Seoul Sausage Company, with two trucks and two restaurants to its name.

The Asian American trio bring their wursty talents to the battle as the only team from Los Angeles. The event began earlier in September, and had create signature breakfast recipes featuring Thomas English muffins and bagels.

The trio’s entry, “Tommy’s Breakfast Sammie,” is a riff on a classic breakfast sandwich. It stuffs a Thomas English muffin with a deep-fried sausage patty and cheese, then tops that with smoked gravy and a sunny-side egg – and it’s all made from scratch.

Ted Kim said he is “proud to have been selected and is honored to represent L.A.” “It brings you right back home with mom,” Ted Kim said, of the nostalgic value the sandwich has for him.

Voting is open once a day until Oct. 16 at Thomas Breakfast Battle. The winner will be announced Oct. 19.
