Electronic producer Sweater Beats is on the verge of something huge. After touring with names like Flume and Chance the Rapper, his anthemic single “Glory Days” just got a new karaoke-themed video.
“There aren’t a lot of videos like this, with an all-Asian cast, outside the K-pop and J-pop world,” Fil-Am producer Antonio Cuna, better known as Sweater Beats, told Teen Vogue. “As an Asian artist, I feel like I have a responsibility to represent the community however I can.”
The infectious dancehall tune features a handful of prominent Asian Americans in its video, directed by Brad Wong and featuring Far East Movement, The Kinjaz, Ryan Feng, Starro, Lydia Paek, Ellen Kim and Kimi Singer as “Karaoke Girl.”
The single comes from his upcoming and much-anticipated “For the Cold” EP and features Japanese American singer and actress Hayley Kiyoko (“Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins). “It’s not often two Asian Americans get to represent in pop music so that makes it all the more meaningful!” Kiyoko said.
