Swimsuit Guide: Best Suits for Our Bodies

Norwegian-Thai Sports Illustrated model Chrissy Teigen shows you how to properly pose in a swimsuit

As summer is almost upon us (eeks! finishing up Audrey Magazine‘s summer issue as we speak!), it’s time for that annual hunt of great swimsuits to wear to the pool or the beach or down the street. (Ain’t no one stopping you.)

We’ve compiled some details to look out for when finding your perfect swimsuit–especially ones that tend to flatter Asian American bodies and skin tones. Take a look.

Color

With so many pretty colors around, red is the ultimate Asian color to wear. It’s bright and fun yet classy and complements our skin tone super well.  Yellow is also a really popular hue this season. If solids are not your cup of tea, why not wear a super colorful one like this Christian Audigier one above (right)?

Boobs

Being a rather small-busted and…nipply woman, swimsuits that flatter my breasts are always of first priority. My favorite are those with built-in padding. This season, I found I can cheat my way with ruched tops (top left) in bold patterns that will hide what I have (and don’t have). Another good alternative are halters that will give you cleavage no matter your cup size like the Victoria’s Secret piece (top right).

Modest

I’m a little shy when it comes to beachwear. String bikinis are not really my thing. For those who prefer a little modesty, they can still find pretty and playful suits for the beach like these tankinis and one pieces that are back in style!

Accessories

Last but not least, don’t forget the accessories! Sun block and wide-brimmed hats add to your personality (and shelter you from the sun).
Happy swimsuit hunting!
