Szechuan Sauce Is Coming Back To McDonald’s For One Day Only

McDonald’s is making “Rick and Morty” fans proud by bringing back their infamous Szechuan dipping sauce for one day only, at select restaurants nationwide, on Oct. 7.

The teriyaki dipping sauce, which originally debuted in 1998, was introduced to coincide with the release of Disney’s “Mulan,” mimicking Chinese Szechuan Sauce.

The sauce became a cult item among “Rick and Morty” fans when the character of Rick, a mad scientist, expressed his obsession with the discontinued sauce in its third season debut in April. The desire for the sauce to return quickly became viral on Twitter and even led to a fan-made petition that is going 38,000 strong.

Though the chain did not directly say they are bringing the sauce back in response to “Rick and Morty,” they mentioned to Polygon that the condiment is “the year’s most talked-about dipping sauce.”

McDonald’s announced it will also release 1,000 limited-edition commemorative posters to go along with each of their sauces.

Be quick. They’re sure to run out fast!
