Attention, Korean Whovians: There is a Doctor Who-themed bar in South Korea. In the words of the Doctor, “Basically, run.”
For the uninitiated, Doctor Who is a sci-fi television series produced by BBC that follows the adventures of the Doctor, a humanoid alien with a time-traveling spaceship in the guise of a blue, 1960s British police box called the “TARDIS.” The show is listed in the Guinness World Records as the longest-running sci-fi TV series in the world.
Just a few months before BBC arrived in Seoul for its worldwide Doctor Who tour last August, one enterprising fan opened up South Korea’s first Doctor Who-themed bar in the satellite city of Anyang.
The TARDIS Beer Pub & Grill is a spacious bar adorned with few Doctor Who mementos, including a replica of the show’s old villain “Cassandra,” a modified human who looks like a piece of skin stretched over a frame. Customers can also see the memorable quote “By the way, did I mention it also travels in time” against the brick wall.

Unfortunately, the pub doesn’t serve Doctor Who drinks or food on the menu, according to writer Giacomo Lee of Medium. While you won’t find any fish fingers and custard here, the pub serves a variety of Korean snacks and some hearty fried food.

Seoul was the first city actors Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman visited in last year’s Doctor Who World Tour. Hundreds of Korean fans greeted the twelfth Doctor and his companion at Incheon International Airport–many cosplayed as their favorite characters from the show.
You can watch highlights video from the Seoul leg of the tour below:
The TARDIS Bar & Grill is located on the second floor of building 674-201 near the Anyang Station (Stop P147). The establishment should come up as 타디스 (TARDIS) on Korean maps. To learn more about other Doctor Who-themed bars and cafes in other countries, click here.
