This fall, comedian Ken Jeong, a former doctor, will be playing a doctor in a multi-camera sitcom.

ABC announced last week that it ordered Dr. Ken, a medical comedy starring and executive produced by Jeong, for its fall 2015-2016 lineup. Since ABC renewed Fresh Off the Boat for its sophomore season, this means there will be at least two Asian American families on primetime network TV.

Inspired by Jeong’s past experience as a real-life internist, Dr. Ken follows a “frustrated HMO doctor who juggles medicine, marriage and parenting, and succeeding at none of them.”

Aside from Jeong, the cast includes Suzy Nakamura, who portrays Allison, Dr. Ken’s wife; Tish Campbell-Martin as nurse Damona; Dave Foley as Pat, head of the clinic; and Albert Tsai and Krista Marie Yu as the doctor’s children.

Below is the trailer for the pilot:

From a first glance, Dr. Ken seems to be a classic multi-cam family sitcom with a laugh track, rebellious teenage daughter, endearing resolutions and all that jazz. Of course, with Ken Jeong as the leading man, we can probably expect a few crazy, comedic moments.
