Washington Times Sold for $1

Reverend Sun Myung Moon

The Washington Times (not to be confused with the more acclaimed Washington Post) was just sold by Preston Moon to Douglas Joo for the grand sum of one dollar.

The Washington Times was founded in 1982 by the Unification Church founder, Reverend Sun Myung Moon, aka the head of the Moonies, and was primarily funded by the Unification Church. The Unification Church stopped funding the paper a few years ago, a huge blow to a paper that has never made a profit.

The recent sale to Joo, the head of News World Media Development, a Delaware-based company, and an ally of Reverend Moon, means that the Washington Times will likely be under the Unification Church’s umbrella again.
