Sure, you love instant noodles, but would you wear ‘em?
Cynthia Delaney Suwito, a Singaporean artist, has been knitting (!) instant noodles into scarves as art performance pieces.
Speaking to Top 10 News, Suwito said she boils the noodles, leaves them to cool and then takes the pliable noodles to her needles, with which she can knit 20 cm in three painstaking hours.
“Instant noodles being something that is supposed to be very instant, I’m doing something slow to it,” Suwito said.
The entire project, she said, is a statement about instant gratification and the preciousness of time that we sometimes forget to slow down and enjoy.
Suwito’s instant noodles obsession goes beyond knitting — her other art projects include a collection of noodle confessions and art featuring instant noodles as specimens for archeologists in the future.
