Friday will mark a first for national Asian American and Pacific Islander groups when former President Bill Clinton – on behalf of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton – and Libertarian presidential nominee Gary Johnson speak directly to them at a presidential election forum hosted by APIAVote and the Asian American Journalists Association.
AAJA said Sunday it has also invited Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump join the forum, to take place at the Colosseum at Caesars Place in Las Vegas.
Congressional AAPI Caucus Chair Rep. Judy Chu and member Rep. Mike Honda are also expected to address the AAPI community.
This election year has seen AAPIs becoming more visible than ever before – at the Democratic National Convention last month, the AAPI Caucus was invited to speak on stage for the first time.
According to APIAVote, the Asian American electorate – the fastest-growing racial voting segment in the U.S. – will make up 10 percent of all voters by 2044.
