The NBA is celebrating its first-ever Filipino Heritage Week through Sunday in the Philippines.
Festivities include Filipino Heritage Nights hosted by the Golden State Warriors and the Miami Heat, as well as specially designed shirts.
On Wednesday, the Heat — under Filipino American head coach Erik Spoelstra — will play New Orleans, followed by the Timberwolves on Friday, as a part of the Heritage Week. On Saturday, the Warriors will go up against the Bucks, with Filipino singer Martin Nievera performing to kick off the game.
“The first NBA Filipino Heritage Week is the perfect opportunity for the NBA to celebrate the support of our Filipino fans around the world,” NBA Philippines Managing Director Carlo Singson said in a statement. “The activities in the Philippines, Miami and Oakland will showcase the country’s vibrant culture and passion for basketball.”
