One of Bollywood’s most bankable stars, Salman Khan, has locked in a deal with Amazon’s video streaming service.
Khan’s Salman Khan Ventures will give Amazon exclusive worldwide streaming rights to any films it produces, as well as any future projects starring Khan himself.
So far, the deal includes Khan’s recently released “Tubelight,” as well as the 2015 hit “Bajrangi Bhaijaan,” “Jai Ho” and “Kick.”
The deal follows a partnership made by Amazon’s video rival Netflix with Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment last December, which gave Netflix access to the Bollywood star’s movies and upcoming films.
Amazon Video India head Nitesh Kripalani told The Hollywood Reporter: “This is another big step to change the way how Indian customers consume entertainment with Salman’s movies coming first to Prime Video customers, before their television broadcast.”
Khan added: “Amazon Prime Video reaches over 200 countries and territories and I am happy to collaborate with Amazon Prime Video and expand the reach of Indian cinema.”
