Two India Original Series Coming To Netflix

Netflix has announced that it has plans for two original Indian series, a cricket drama called “Selection Day” and a female-led crime thriller called “Again.”

“Selection Day” is a drama based on the Man Booker Prize-winning novel of the same name by Aravind Adiga. It tells the story of two young brothers and their cricket-obsessed father and how the boys dream of being selected for Mumbai under-19’s team. Netflix is teaming up with U.K.-based Seven Stories to produce the series.

The second series is a crime thriller written by Marisha Mukerjee (“Quantico”), about a female detective hunting down a serial killer in a case that links several past ones.

“’Again’ not only speaks to my own duality and cultural heritage, but also to the universal grey that exists between life and death, where religion intersects justice,” Mukerjee said of the project.

Last year, Netflix released its first Indian original series, “Sacred Games,” starring Saif Ali Khan. Rival streaming giant Amazon Prime Video also released last year a cricket-centered drama, “Inside Edge,” and recently sealed a streaming deal with Salman Khan’s production company.
