Tennis Coach Arrested For Sex With 15-Year-Old Student

A Los Angeles tennis coach was arrested on Tuesday for sexually assaulting a female teenage student in Glendale, Calif., according to news reports.

Dale Kim, 46, faces charges of rape, oral copulation with a minor and lewd acts with a child, according to the Los Angeles Times. He is being held on $875,000 bail.

Glendale police said the 15-year-old victim had been a student of Kim’s for several years and the alleged acts started in June 2011 with the most recent encounter occurring last April.

The Glendale News-Press reported that Kim rented courts at a Glendale tennis and golf complex for lessons.

At some point, he offered her massages, which allegedly led to him touching her body in a sexual manner, [Glendale Police Sgt. Tom] Lorenz said. Their interaction allegedly progressed to fondling, which police say occurred in Kim’s vehicle in the tennis complex parking lot.

Eventually, Kim allegedly took the girl to a motel in Tujunga, where they engaged in sexual intercourse, according to police. Several months later, the girl notified police about her alleged relationship with Kim.

Court records indicated that Kim, a married resident of Northridge, was charged and acquitted of sexual battery in January 1998.
