A retired building inspector in Los Angeles was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison for taking bribes during his 37-year tenure at the Department of Building and Safety, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Samuel In, who retired in 2011, was also ordered to pay the city $30,000. In pleaded guilty to felony bribery charges last year.

“I have disgraced my family and myself,” In told the court in an emotional plea for leniency, according to the Times. The judge said although In, 66, had conducted some “good deeds” as a longtime community volunteer, it was not enough to justify a three-and-a-half year period of corruption. In reportedly took a $5,000payment from a Koreatown businessman and admitted to taking at least $30,000 in connection with approximately 12 businesses in the Koreatown area.
